The ORD is offering Basic Sign Language Level 1 and Level 2 on Wednesdays, June 5 - July 17! Registration begins on Monday, April 29.
Level 1: Learn the basics of ASL! Learn to fingerspell the alphabet and numbers, along with the signs for colors, foods, and animals, as well as simple phrases to use to communicate with a deaf person. This is a hands-on class and you will be continuing to build your vocabulary each week.
Level 2: Participants must have completed Basic Sign Level 1 to register, as they will be adding more vocabualry and concepts to already existing sign language skills. Other topics covered include sentence structure, phrases and more advanced communication skills; learning about deaf culture and how to use an interpreter (roles and responsibilities; and practicing fluency with fingerspelling and sentence structure with an emphasis on voicing simple phrases and concepts.
